Edith Kollath has been influenced by the idea of sculpture as an expandable media
with a performative potential. Instead of producing objects, she is interested in
changing the state of existence of her - in parts ready-made - material.
She is questioning structures and materials in experimental settings aiming for
traces of fragile and uncertain states and their social and theoretical contexts.

Working in diverse media including video, installation, objects and paper she is
intrigued by the question of how a thought process can be traced back in an object
or installation or made radiate from it.
Whats important to her is not to reach the final destination – a work of art – through
the shortest route, but to circle around in the labyrinth of possibilities, which is to
her a process of unpredictability.
